“In the main ring, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s marching band, Wise Owls bird display and Stannage International Stunt Team and a vintage tractor parade entertained crowds. And elsewhere on the field there were animal exhibits, trade and craft stalls, and hundreds of classes and competitions including dry stone walling and floral art.”

“There were some real good lookers at Emley Show – and that wasn’t including the thousands of visitors.
Many of the moo-vers and shakers of the animal showing world in Yorkshire turned out.
Preened and polished their animals were primed for the catwalk.
One blond beauty captivated the audience but Gigi wasn’t fazed by all the attention.
She quietly munched on her feed and nuzzled up alongside her eight-week-old calf as the crowds filed past to take a look at an Emley Show champion.

They did that all day as the top country show again attracted massive crowds, even though the weather turned against them later in the day.
Gigi, a British Blonde cow, weighs in at about one tonne and was exhibited by Ken Jackson, from Selby, who has been showing cattle for the best part of 40 years.
“People love getting up so close to cattle like this as they don’t normally get the chance to stand in front of them and admire them.”
Mr Jackson was delighted at his prizes with Gigi at Emley on Saturday, just as he had been when she picked up top awards at the Great Yorkshire Show, Driffield Show and Ryedale Show in recent weeks.

“They’re getting ready for the final preparations for one of Huddersfield’s biggest events.
The Emley Show, which attracts crowds of around 15,000 people, is to take place on Saturday, August 1, in fields across from the famous Emley Moor TV mast.
And it is set to feature a whole host of attractions in addition to the regular and popular animal classes with everything from poultry to Shire horses.
Emley Show is over 120 years old – with the first show held in 1893.”
