  • The owner shall have been a member of the local Society for not less than 6 months prior to the last date for entry for the Show.
  • If not already a member, the winner of the Special Prize must become a member of the Shire Horse Society.
  • No animal to be eligible to take more than one Silver Spoon during any one year. The Royal and Shire Horse Society Shows being excepted.
  • The winning animal must be registered or be eligible for registration in the studbook or grade B register.
  • The winning animal must be free from disease.
  • The Council reserve the right, in offering their Spoon, to award it only to persons approved by the Shire Horse Society & subject to confirmation in the uncontrolled discretion of the Council

Emley Show is participating in the SOUTH WEST YORKSHIRE SHIRE FOAL 6 STAR ACCUMULATOR.
Points to be awarded for Shire Foal classes at 6 local shows – Honley, Arthington, Woolley, Emley, Harthill Carnival & South West Yorkshire Shire Horse Hiring Society in association with Penistone Agricultural Show.
Points are as follow;

5th -1pt awarded to the foal.

This competition is open to everyone. Membership of any of the Show Societies is not required. The foal with the most points at the end of the 6 shows will be declared Champion Foal and receive £200 donated by Haigh’s Farm Shop, Mirfield. The foal with the second highest points will be Reserve Champion Foal and receive £100 donated by Mr R Bedford. Late entries for this section may be made at the Horse Section Secretary’s tent up to 12 noon.

DONKEYS

Classes will be judged under DBS rules and application has been made to them for SPECIAL ROSETTES which will be awarded to member winners.


Entering one donkey and showing another is not permitted.
Stallions and entire colts must be properly dressed in bridle and bits with the leading rein correctly attached to the bit. In ‘Mare with Foal at Foot’ Class, superficial blemishes of a non-hereditary character do not necessarily debar a mare from being awarded a prize. No person under the age of 18 years may handle an entire male donkey (foals excepted). The classes are open to all donkeys but DBS rosettes will be awarded to DBS members. The ‘In Hand Champion Donkey’ at this show automatically qualifies for the relevant Championship at the DBS Annual Supreme Championship Show, provided it is owned by a fully paid up member of the DBS. Where the ‘In Hand Champion Donkey’ has previously qualified, the Reserve Champion Donkey will be deemed the Qualifier. A donkey may win more than one championship at shows but will qualify only once for the DBS Supreme Championship Show.

This Show is affiliated to the Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK), Affiliation number 18233. Both owner and rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS(UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS(UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both the owner and exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the Judge Members to apply in writing to CHAPS(UK) for appropriate qualifier card..The CHAPS(UK) Championship Show will be held on 30 Aug 2018 to 1 Sep 2018. Shows held on or after date of Championship Show will count as 2019 qualifiers. The following classes are CHAPSUK) Qualifiers; 32 – 36. Rule – 76.6 Entry qualifications: to be ridden by Adult, Associate or Junior Members. (a) For registered horses in Grade C that have not won a total of 375 points. Four double clears will qualify – in accordance with rule 312.6 (b) For all horses born on or after 1st January 2012, irrespective of Points. Horses will only be eligible for double clear qualification to Second Rounds if they reach the age of six years or under in the same calendar year as the Newcomers Final – in accordance with Rule 312.6. Qualifies for: Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round. Qualifying period 1st June – 31st May inclusive. Numbers to qualify: Those horses which jump a clear round in the First Round, followed by a clear round in the jump-off, in at least four Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers First Round competitions in any qualifying period, will qualify to compete in a Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round, irrespective of their placings for prize money in those competitions, which will be determined by the normal Table A Rules (Rule 191). To obtain a double clear qualification, even if the horse is the only clear round, it must jump a jump-off round and jump clear to gain a double clear round. The winner of a particular Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers First Round competition will not automatically qualify solely as a result of that competition. If combined with an open: In the event of 30 or more starters the class will be split with two sets of prize money. All horse/rider combinations eligible for the 1.10m National Amateur First Round will receive dual qualification of double clears, in either section of a Newcomer – first round/1.10m open competition. Points are allocated depending on the number of starters; every one in five starters is eligible for points. If you gain a double clear you will receive three points regardless of starters. If a combination competes in more than two consecutive height classes per show day only the points from the bigger classes will be graded.
