Celebrating Our 100th Show
We believe that reaching our 100th Show is a very special achievement, and we acknowledge the help and support of the local community and others who have been involved over the last century or more!
As well as providing a day to remember for our visitors and competitors, the aim of Emley Show is to raise enough money to help local groups and students who are completing projects and courses, which are related to Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary related studies, Animal Husbandry etc: Over the years many students have benefitted from the grants they have received and as a result their interest in the Show has often continued into adulthood and they have become involved in the setup, running and dismantling of the Show, thus helping the event to continue into the future, and repaying the Show for the support they received.
This year we are especially pleased to support projects at 5 local Primary schools, Emley; Kayes at Clayton West; Grange Moor; Flockton; and Highburton; they will now be able to complete their special projects which range from buying new gardening tools to starting their very own Apiary, (beekeeping). We obviously wish them all well and hope that their projects will spark an interest in the children which will stay with them for many years and provide hours of pleasure for all concerned.
There’s always lots of planning for our Show, but next year we celebrate our 100th event, so lots more will be expected of us and we hope NOT to disappoint!! We hope to provide extra entertainment, additional classes and hopefully lots to see and do, but more news of that as the bookings are made.
Make a note of the date (5th August 2017) and watch for more news as it is delivered.
